Very nice historic place. Great place to stay.

The breakfasts were to die for, I found our beds to hard to get a good night's sleep.

I have never been treated so poorly by a business! My husband and I were supposed to stay in the Calumet Suite the night of our wedding. The suite was purchased for us as a gift from all of the bridesmaids in our wedding. The Manor was notified that we were going to be a late check-in.. When we finally arrived, we called the number on the door. The man who answered was blunt, rude, and kept asking "what do you want?" My husband explained multiple times that we were the bride & groom ready to check in to our suite. With a sigh of irritation, the man said he "supposed he could come let us in". By then, my husband was irritated because of how rudely we were being treated (and we were standing on the porch of the manor in the freezing rain) and said if it was such a problem, we will go elsewhere. The man on the phone then hung up on us!!! We were never let into the Manor and never got to stay in our suite that was purchased for us as a gift. When I called the next day to get my bridesmaids a refund, the woman on the phone literally yelled at me continuously. Apparently our room key was in the Manor's mailbox the entire time - yet we were never notified of this beforehand? The woman then claimed that the person who booked the room was supposed to tell us that our key was in the mailbox, but my bridesmaid who purchased the room was never told this information. The woman then went on to say it's not her job to make sure that people communicate? The moral of this giant story: do NOT bring your business to the Laurium Manor unless you want to be treated with absolute disrespect! My bridesmaids lost a good chunk of money to this business and will never see a refund or any compensation.

A wonderful place to relive the early 1900's. We went in December and had a very romantic weekend in the suite that has a gas fireplace. We chose this room specifically for the fireplace since we know old Victorian homes can be drafty. The fireplace didn't give out hardly any heat and the room was cool. We brought in a blanket from the car, pulled two chairs in front of the radiator, put our feet on the radiator and read Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" out loud while we snuggled under the blanket. This was fun, but it would be appropriate if the B & B had a pile of fluffy blankets for such use and also if they replaced the gas fireplace with one that puts out some heat. However, the down comforter on the king size bed kept us very cozy all night--had we been thinking we could have taken that off the bed instead of using the car blanket. The breakfast in the morning was delicious!

Rich in history!Restored beautifully..The owners are hands on n provide a great knowkedge.
